Uncle Tom's Cabin - Harriet Beecher Stowe

Just as a bit of a sidebar here, something interesting I noticed in the story. There's a scene where Augustine is playing the piano and starts into Dies Irae from Mozart's Requiem, reminiscing how his mother used to sing it often when he was a boy.... Really? Take a listen.

Huh. My mom listened to Barry Manilow and the Beach Boys when I was a kid... I can only imagine what sort of hellish scenario I might've walked into, coming home from school and finding my mom singing something like Dies Irae lol. "Mom, are you and Dad fighting or something?" :-P In the words of Peter Griffin, thank God we live in these times! ;-)
